Thursdays
July 6 TO August 10, 2023
The word is out! Summer 2022, audiences discovered TOPS’ best kept secret: beautiful Corktown Common, a park nestled between the Distillery and the Don, with an unbeatable view of Toronto’s skyline. Record-breaking audiences told us they wanted more — and in Summer 2023, we brought you more! TOPS’ Thursday evening series in Corktown grew to offer six weeks of curated alfresco cinema last summer.
At the east-side iteration of our Another World programme at parks across the city, audiences looked forward to discovering the world of the Harlem ballroom scene (Paris is Burning, with a live pre-show performance), the traditional wuxia world of martial arts (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), the dystopian future of The Matrix, the world of Amélie’s colourful imagination, the manufactured reality of The Truman Show, and the limitless possibilities of Wakanda in Black Panther. As always, attendees were treated to excellent short films by local and Canadian filmmakers paired with each feature.
