With the short film The Afterlifetime of Colm Feore

In his captivating third feature, Nope, comedian turned Oscar-winning writer-director Jordan Peele tells the story of two Black siblings (played by screen chameleons Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer) with a long family lineage working behind the scenes in the film industry as horse trainers, and their attempts to uncover a celestial mystery on their ranch. In an ode to classic sci-fi alien encounter films, set in a Cowboy landscape, Peele satirically delves into themes of sensationalism, creative vocation, and exploitation, and the realities of survival in a world driven by all-consuming capitalism. This film deserves a wide open sky – don’t miss the thrill of it outdoors at Fort York!

Picking up Nope’s themes of reviving past Hollywood glories, Toronto writer-director Hannah Cheesman’s comedy short The AfterLifetime of Colm Feore takes a playful approach. Ironically playing himself, famous Canadian star of stage and screen Colm Feore is subjected to a less-than-enthusiastic postmortem audition by Baroness von Sketch’s Carolyn Taylor for his next big role – in this all too relatable fantasy, the showbiz grind continues, even after death!

This screening will be presented with optional pre-recorded Audio Description available for blind, low vision, or visually impaired audience members.
