Every Night - 10 nights
August 21 to August 30 2020
At the end of August 2020, TOPS will present a special 10-night programme at Fort York to celebrate our tenth summer season of communal outdoor cinema programming across the city of Toronto. Though this milestone season did not turn out quite as we had planned (our public park programming had to be rescheduled to 2021), we look forward to presenting 10 nights of cinema magic under the stars in one of the city’s most unique locations. We could all use a bit of relief this year, and the TOPS team looks forward to sharing a true highlight of summer 2020 with you.
Ten Years of Toronto Outdoor Picture Show will welcome 100 safely distanced onsite audience members to the grounds of Fort York each evening, with free tickets obtained in advance (see all ticketing and event terms & conditions here, and our event FAQ here). Film lovers who live in the high rises overlooking the walled fort with a view of the big TOPS screen can join the event from their rear windows and balconies, tuning in to the show’s audio from their own speakers (like at the drive-in!) - find audio details here.
This unique programme includes 10 of the most memorable feature films paired with 10 of the most impactful short films selected from our first decade of programming across the city. These are movies that we’ve always wanted to revisit, and we can’t wait to share them with you again or for the first time. As a special highlight, opening weekend audiences will also be treated to the World Premieres of two new short films that were funded by the festival for our anniversary season, The Women’s Hour and Tips Are Appreciated.
This programme is co-curated by TOPS co-founders, Artistic & Executive Director Emily Reid and Board President Felan Parker.
Free tickets to Ten Years of Toronto Outdoor Picture Show will be available to the public as of August 3rd, while supplies last. Due to the very limited attendance capacity of this festival, free tickets are limited to 2 per person for the whole festival. You can see all ticketing and event terms & conditions here.
Any additional tickets will be made available on each festival day at noon for that evening’s screening. Tickets will be released first to newsletter subscribers, so sign up now!
All public health regulations and procedures will be followed closely and groups of attendees will be physically spaced out to ensure a safe and enjoyable event. You can find out more about our event protocols in our FAQ here.
