Toronto Outdoor Picture Show is the only not-for-profit organization dedicated entirely to sharing high quality, diverse and engaging outdoor cinema with communities across Toronto. Christie Pits Film Festival is its signature project.

But we need your help. To better serve our community and combat rising A/V rental costs, TOPS needs to invest in the purchase of its own Audio-Visual Equipment: a best-in-class 40’ outdoor movie screen, a high quality film projector, and all the pieces that will give our audiences and featured filmmakers the best film-watching experience they can have in their neighbourhood parks.

How WE will get there with community bonds

A complete outdoor cinema presentation package will cost us $110,000. As our valued supporters, sponsors, community members and friends, we are looking to you to help fund this investment by purchasing a community bond.

TOPS is grateful to the Government of Ontario for a recently awarded grant of $60,000 from Ontario Trillium Fund. To finance the remaining $50,000, TOPS is now selling community bond investments to members of the community and supporters at large. All bonds are priced at $1000, with guaranteed returns on your investment.

What are community bonds

A Community Bond is an interest-bearing loan that is accessible to unaccredited investors and can only be issued by non-profit and charitable organizations. Your community bond purchase will:

Earn you 3.5-5% return on your investment within two to five years. That’s a better return than typical TFSAs (Tax-Free Savings Accounts) and GICs (Guaranteed Investment Certificates).
Give you the satisfaction of knowing that you’re putting your savings toward a local, ethical investment vehicle.
Allow you to contribute to the cultural vibrancy of your community.

Ready to Purchase your bond?

First, read the Community Bonds Plan.
Complete the Bond Purchase Agreement (documents no longer available) and send it to us at info@topictureshow.com. Bond sales close April 30th, 2019, so please submit promptly. Bond payment information is detailed in the agreement.
Download and read the supporting Schedules A, B & C (documents no longer available), for your reference.
TOPS will issue the bonds to the bondholders in early May.
You will receive your bond(s) by email and will hold onto them for the life of the bond.
