Shorts spotlight:

trevor anderson

New this year, TOPS’ summer season includes a Shorts Spotlight on the films of Canadian indie filmmaker Trevor Anderson. At the cusp of launching his feature filmmaking début very soon with a film titled Before I Change My Mind, Trevor has long been one of our favourite Canadian short filmmakers. Known for his unique personal style as an until-recently indie Prairie filmmaker, Anderson’s films blend documentary and fictional storytelling, wryly exploring queer themes, memory, and personal trials and tribulations.

Trevor Anderson was one of ten filmmakers who TOPS funded to make an original short film in celebration of our 10th anniversary year in 2020; Tips are Appreciated premiered at TOPS’ Fort York festival in August of that year.

Anderson’s unabashed affection for the performing arts makes his films a natural fit for this year’s Curtains Up! programme. TOPS looks forward to sharing his films with a wider audience as we present one of his short films in each of our neighbourhood series this summer paired with a variety of feature films: Jesse Jams at Fort York, The Man that Got Away at Christie Pits Film Festival, The Wet Secrets’ Nightlife at Corktown Common, and The Little Deputy at Bell Manor Park.

Follow Trevor for updates on upcoming films!
